20. Conference Archives, Libraries, Museums in the Digital World 2019
2 to 4 December 2019 in the conference hall of the National Archives in Prague, Archivní 4, Prague 4 - Chodovec. The conference is devoted to the issue of cooperation of archives, libraries, museums, galleries and monument care in the use of information and communication technologies for the protection and access to cultural heritage.
The traditional conference on 2 and 3 December is followed by a seminar with Bert Lyons on 4 December:

Digital preservation requires more than just appropriate technologies; strategies are important to be in place for staffing, documented procedures, risk management, financial planning, and setting long-term goals.

The technical aspect of digital content stewardship is related to its numerical nature - bit protection.

The question of access - how to make the most of digital content in the digital world - is critical to preservation.

Each block will last a maximum of 90 minutes. Each block presents questions and responses essential to understanding the field. Orientation in the discussed issues is not a condition for participation. The seminar will not prescribe specific procedures and techniques, but rather will provide an overview of the field and current practices with the goal of sharing experience and generating discussion. The seminar is not directly intended for IT specialists. A knowledge of technology is not necessary.
Bertram Lyons, MA, CA:
Bertram is dedicated to digital curation, digital preservation, software development, consulting, and training. He is currently working as a partner and senior consultant at AVP, which is one of the world's leading specialists in the management and preservation of digital information.
As an experienced archivist and consultant, he specializes in developing management processes and strategies for digital collection content in a wide variety of institutional settings. He provides training and services for organizations such as the Society of American Archives, the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives, the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, the U.S. Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, the British Library, Harvard University, Yale University, Northwestern University, and Paramount Pictures, among many others. These projects contribute to his extraordinary experience and ability to understand the needs of cultural heritage professionals, whether administrative or directly in the area of hardware and software requirements and solutions suitable for a given project. He helps colleagues to ask questions that reveal the necessary context, perspectives, and the real opportunities and risks related to the care and management of digital information.
His archivist roots give him the necessary insight into processes that control decision-making and influence data protection results. The title of Master of Arts was awarded to Bert for his studies of museums and archives at the University of Kansas.
Bert is a member of the Executive Board of the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) and a prior Council member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA). He is a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists, and is a graduate of the Archives Leadership Institute.

After the road to the turn towards Kutná Hora (Chodov, Spořilov, Horní Roztyly) (directly at this turn is OBI) after approx. 200m - there is another traffic light, junction, here to the right (direction Kutná Hora), then still on the main road to the turn to Vršovice (left) - this is the last traffic lights, after turning to Vršovice after about 150m to the right (1st right), then straight and first right again (around Top Hotel Praha), after the final bus again right (it is already Archivní street) ) - then around the colorful building to the parking lot.
By car on the D1 in the direction from Brno:
Exit at 1.km from D1 - Opatov - around the Opatov metro station at the roundabout (Litochlebské nám.), After the roundabout take the 3rd exit (direction Chodovec, Spořilov), then on the second exit to the right (roundabout), here the first exit turn right and at the first intersection (not traffic light) turn left straight down and after Mercedes service (behind the cross threshold) turn left - Archivni Street - then past the colorful building to the parking lot.
